Me and my boyfriend got a new camera last week and let me tell you it was a scary but a smart and fun buy since I do sell online. I kept looking at my etsy shop and thinking my pictures were pretty nice but after the all the time of editing each picture so it could kinda match the item and still having them be off I was just tired of working on my page and posting my new items. After taking some new pictures of some of my newer pieces and comparing the two the old just look horrible and I can't believe I even posted them.
Just a little on the new awesome camera.
"Designed for users looking for an advanced camera and still want fun features to
enhance their photographs, the Nikon D5100 D-SLR is touted to offer “a new perspective on creativity”. It packs a large 3″ high-res swivel type vari-angle LCD monitor, 16.2 megapixel CMOS sensor, D-Movie with Full HD (1080p, 24/30p), Full-Time AF and stereo sound, 11-point AF system including a cross-type sensor, Live View with Auto Scene Selector, Built-in HDR, ISO Sensitivity 100-6400, 4 fps high-speed continuous shooting, and an Effects Mode that let you enhance your images and videos (included effects: Night vision, Color sketch, Miniature effect and Selective color)."
My boyfriend made me a little lightbox/softbox and we started playing with the new camera.
I'm still working on lighting and getting to know how to use the
camera more so soon I'm sure they will be even better.
Feel free to leave any tips or suggestions.
Here are some before and after.

I just got the D5100 myself and it is Awsome!!! Great effects too.
ReplyDeleteI love it so much, now all I have to do it work on my lighting and I am good to go!
DeleteHi, nice macro shots. I too just got a D5100 and so far loving this camera. I made myself a light box and works pretty good. I do not have any tips for you other than keep experimenting with different lighting, angles, depth of field etc. Since there is no film it costs nothing to take lots of photos. Good luck and enjoy your nikon. Jeff
ReplyDeleteI can easily take 300 pictures without realizing it! My fiance made me a light box and my old roommate got me a real one for Christmas. Oddly though, natural lighting and a piece of printer paper works best for me.
