Julep July 2013 Review!

I got my box a little over a week ago but am just getting around to post about it... been too busy to play with my new goodies since I had friends and family over to the 4th.

Anyway, my Julep box came with a few surprises this month. The first being that my add on was in the box! I always thought it was a waste to break up an order for the packing materials and for the cost of shipping that may be eating away at a could be price drop/discount! A free goodie (which Julep is known to add in a box here and there) blotting papers, these came just in time for my road trip from Arizona to California to pick up my kid sister... 12 hours in a car while it was 119 degrees, I had some blotting to do.
The last surprise was how cute the boxes were! I saw on there facebook page that someone had made bookmarks with them. I have a few cute frame that I am going to put these in and hang it by my computer:)
I got the Modern Beauty box this month so I didn't get a polish in the box, I did get this beauty "Blakely" as my add on though. When I want both products I get the box with both and get the polish as an add on, it ends up saving me a few bucks for or Jules getting the products as a bundle.
I only used one coat of Blakely here, I was happy with the coverage. I added gold foil to the tips, you can see how I apply the foil here.
This is why I went with Modern Beauty... as soon as I saw this I had to try it! after using it a few times I don't know how I feel about it though. I tried it on dry hair and it was a no go, I tried it on towel dried hair and again no luck but then I tried with really wet hair and it worked! It seems for me I have to just brush my hair and spray it with nothing else in my hair and while wet. I was happy with how it looked and smelled but it does give your hair the feel of being at the beach. I'll play with it more and post pictures later, I need to play with it more.
Ah, the beach tonic. I was not crazy excited about it although I did want to try it. I sprayed it and I was very surprised at how much I liked it and how great a product it was. It was not oily after you rub it in, the scent is so light and lovely and it made my skin feel very nice.  My fiance likes the smell of it too, it is always nice to have the person always by you like the way you smell. He is not a fan of it n him though. I have already used a good chunk of the stuff, I love it and will be getting more of the stuff.
Here is a better picture of the boxes, too cute!
The freebie of the box that isn't even a sample size! I always love the freebies they add. I do hope that I see these is their shop soon, they are always handy to have on hand. I also getting married soon so these would be nice to add to my bridal emergence kit.
Best thing about this box is I used my Jules so it didn't cost me anything this month!

4th of July Nails!

Getting ready for the 4th!

 The goodies you will need.
Nail art tape.
Polishes-
Base (by Julep)
 Red (Jackie by Julep)
White (French White Creme by Wet n' Wild)
 Blue (Ally By Julep)
Glitter (America by Julep)
Red Nail Art (Be my Valentine by SinfulColors)
Top coat (Freedom)
Star stickers (bought at Target)
Red, clear or white and blue crystals (store in LA)
Dotting tool (Etsy)
When getting the star stickers make sure they fit you nail beds so you dont have to cut too much off.
After you apply your base apply white to you index and middle fingers, red to your thumb and blue to you ring finger.
Apple blue to 1/4 of your nail. You want the base of you nail to stay white for you stripes of the flag.
You can use tape to help keep the lines clean and to make this look neater.. or if you just need the help :)
Using your nail art red polish starting under the blue make your first red stripe.
Continue making stripes and made a few to your middle finger also.
When you are done with your stripes apply a few dots with your dotting tool to the blue on your index fingers for the stars of the flag. I like to put my polish I will be dipping in on a piece of tape for easy clean up.
Done, done and done! What a lovely flag you have!
Get your crystals ready and apply a small amount of clear polish on your tape.
Apply a small dot where each crystal is going to on nail with the clear polish and then apple the crystals.
The stars a pretty easy, just pick up and place.
I was going to only apply one but since my nails are pretty long right now I decided I wanted two!
If you have some hangover like I have here, don't worry just cut the extra off.
 All better!
Apply your glitter starting at the base of your thumb. Try to keep the bigger chucks near your base so it looks like it is fading.
Apply your top coat and you are done!

If you like this look check out my other patriotic nails from earlier this month!

Thanks for stopping by and Happy 4th or Canada Day if you are near but not here!

June 2013 Glam Bag!

My lovely pink envelope came yesterday and I was so excite to see all the goodies I got. Sadly and for the first time, I am not a fan of anything from this bag. I did get the BaubleBar bonus bracelet that I am a huge fan of and have been wearing it since I pulled it out of the bag!
I got;
Starlooks Bare Lip Pencil- I am sure it is lovely and do plan of trying it or maybe just gifting it, I don't use lip liner and since it does seem nice I don't want it to go to waste.
NYX Creme Blush- I was hoping for the mosaic blush. Maybe I am just scared to try a creme blush, my sister said she has the same and has been using it for awhile. I will maybe try it or give it to her since she already likes it.
J.Cat Beauty Sparkling Cream Palette- I am going to be using this for Halloween or maybe crafts. It is not recommended to use on your eyes since it is loose glitter and can get in you eye... causing pain. I do not plan on using anywhere else on my body, like someone said on Ipsy's facebook I am not a kid or a stripper. I did try to put some on my hand and it was very hard to stick and didn't really stay in place until I put lotion on, I was hoping since it has an oil base it would stay on it's own.
Cailyn Cosmetics  Line-Fix Gel Eyeliner with Brush Built-In- I got purple but I wear black, this is another goodie I won't be using until Halloween. I do love the brush and the liner seems very good but I just am not going to wear purple liner, it is just not me.
Chella Ivory Lace Highlighter Pencil- This one I think I do like and I think I will play with it although I rarely highlight now. I have been trying to give my brows some more love when I do my makeup so maybe this will help.
I think over all the bag is my favorite part of this month. Never upset that I get the bag though, I may try these things out and love them!
I was finding a new home for the goodies on my vanity and my little kitty Artemis thought she'd come and check out my work.. either that or she was planning to steal one of my makeup brushes again.
The blush got bubbly in the Arizona heat but thankfully the back tells me it is okay!

If you got this month's bag, what did you like best?

So it sounds lovely to me and I am excited, very happy it is a full size also. There have been a few things that were a little small to me in the past. I can't wait to see the colors of this month also, I wonder if they will do a 4th theme or something for it... maybe they will do a mystery box for the holiday.

Are you excited? What do you think the July colors and theme will be?

My first Conscious Box!

I signed up a few weeks ago and just in time to still get the June box. I was so excited after reading other reviews on the boxes.

I had been stalking my tracking number and saw that it was deviered so I ran to get my my first box! I was so excited to see it and then so bummed once I opened it and saw that a few goodies had popped and glued everything together. Plus side, the box smelled yummy!
Everything was sticky and I had things to get done (had to go get a lemon tree!) so just set it aside and wash it off and update this post with more about what I got tomorrow.

I did have the 'Skout Organic Apple Cinnamon Trailbar' and it was pretty good, it taste like a dry apple pie.
