Spring Dried Flower Burst Nail Tutorial

Spring flower nail tutorial with real flowers!
I saw these flowers a few times before buying them. Finally, I decided I had to give them a try and I am so happy I did! I loved how they turned out and were easier to use then I thought. I am
You will need a base coat, feature polish, top coat, dried flowers, nail scissors, dotting tool & tweezers.
A base coat is not needed, I use it because it limits the the stain on my nails when using bright colors and the flowers have a good bit of dye in the. You also don't need tweezers but it does make things slightly easier.

First, prep for your manicure, to make it last longer. Remove your old polish, if any, and soak your hands in warm water for a few minutes. Trim your nails and push back your cuticles but don't cut them. Do not use lotions or oils on your hands before you start, it may make the dry time longer.
The goods by Julep I used.
I used just one bundle for both hands.
Start by applying a coat of your base color, give it a minute or two to dry.
Apply a coat or two of the feature color.
I let it dry for about 2 minutes, I also ran cold water over my nails to help it dry faster.
I used my Rimmel top coat as a glue for the flowers.
Apply a thin coat of the top coat you are using as glue and place the flowers on your nails the way you want the to lay. Until you are happy try not to press down to hard. The tweezers will come in handy with this part.
Using your scissors cut the flowers near the base of the bundle.
There is one stem that lost a flower when I cut the rest on my nail from the bundle.
You can use your dotting tool to pick up any flowers that fall to apply on empty stems.
Dip your dotting tool in a little polish and pick up a flower.
Apply a little more clear top coat for glue if needed by the empty stem and apply the pick up flower.
Apply as many or as few as you want to you nails, I did little burst of flowers on my nails.
Give your nails a minute to dry then apply your polish.
Using Julep's Freedom top coat dab over the flower so you don't have air bubbles and to cover the whole flower and so you don't move the flowers. Apply a thin or thick if needed coat to smooth things out.
Let dry for five minutes and you are done!
Enjoy your pretty spring nails!

You can find the polish, base and top coat by Julep on their site.

December Julep Maven Box & I'm A Golden Box Winner!

I became a Maven only a couple months ago. I heard that they gave a few people every month a golden box with either the monthly collection or a big seller but seeing how I have only 2 monthly boxes under my belt I did not think I'd be seeing a golden box at my front door anytime soon. I received an extra tracking number with my monthly box but since I placed an order after my December Box I thought that thing were just shipped apart but boy was I wrong!

I felt like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory opening the bigger box and seeing a golden ribbon wrapped around a white box. I opened the box and saw that I was a lucky Maven!

I won the This limited-edition white lacquer jewelry box that includes a twelve polish set of toxin-free Julep nail colors hand-picked by Oprah herself (Oprah is really into pink it seems!) and a lovely green yarn wishbone bracelet.

The goodie boxes that came to my door, I always keep the boxes. They are very handing when you need to ship something, just the right size for most things I need to ship this Christmas too!

The December Box goodies.
I went with American Beauty instead of my Classic with a Twist box and I am truth be told regretting it. I liked the look of Patti (the black polish) when I picked the box but once I got it and have it a try I am just not digging it. It may just be the wrong time of the year for it too though, I have Christmas on the mind and it just does not fit. This box also came with a freebie DIY ring for a holiday gift from Julep but sadly mine was broken when I opened the box. Julep will be sending me a replacement shortly though!
*update* I got my ring, see what I did with it here! *update*

Julia oddly is my favorite from this box, I did not think I was going to like but I really do. I think this color is going to be great for New Years with my add-on Vivien.

Patti, Patti, Patti... oh Patti. I want to like you but you make it so hard to, you are just not a lovely polish.

The foot scrub is awesome, I had my fiance use it and he loves it too. I think he likes it more then me :)

The bracelet that with golden box. I almost bough this for myself on Black Friday but did not, I thought it was pretty neat that it came with the box. As you can see the colors match my engagement ring perfectly! From what I saw I was the only one that got green, looks like the other winners got purple.

The box is really awesome too, it is great as a jewelry box.

I have a tall standing jewelry box but this will be nice to have by my bed for my favorite pieces.

After that Patti business I needed something girly, soft and wintery... also needed to play with some of those colors from that lovely box! I applied Carrie as my base color, Audrey went just before my top cost.

I was thinking kinda a pink winter night so I used Amy as my sky and Susie as my snow.

Amy on top and Susie on sponge, after my base coat was dry I rolled it over my nails from side to side.

Audrey went one top to give it some shimmer and then I applied my top coat.

Clean up your nails and you are done!

My first Julep Box.

I have seen a few boxed goodie offers here and there and after many months of thinking about joining one I decided to give it a try when I found the Julep Maven box.  I'd been meaning to try there polish anyway since a friend talked so highly of it. I joined but didn't sign up for my box, I wanted to check out their colors and maybe read a review or two but then I forgot to look up those thing and to sign up for the box. A few weeks later I got an email about their suede colors and an offer I could not pass up!

I took their quiz and found out that I am a classic with a twist.
The word "classic" threw me off but I was pleasantly surprise at how much I liked the colors and the bit of fashion shown for us twisty classics. After liking what I saw I signed up for my box and paid only $4, thank you very much email offer!
On Saturday my brother who told me that I can a box on my patio and brought it in. I thought the box wasn't going to come till after the 27th but I guess your first box is shipped out right when you order it. My brother and sister were staying over for my sisters unbirthday, she turned 14 but her birthday was on a school day so we had it over the weekend so I could see her. Anyway, I couldn't play with it because family was over but today I cracked that baby open and look what I got!
Jodie, Sophie and The Best Pedi Creme Ever!
I am a fan of both color I got in the box. I couldn't decided witch to try first so I just went with both and they look pretty good together. I really like how beige/grey colors look next to my skin so Sophie is my favorite from this box.
Visit my blog post here to see how I made such clean lines.
My elbows get a little dry so I have been using the creme them, after just a few days they are very soft. I'm not gonna lie, I am not a huge fan of the smell. After a few minutes of it being on it smells lovely but when you first apply it the smell punches you in the face!

Overall I am very happy with my first box and I am very exited about my next. I don't know if I will like the colors as much but I can't wait to get the matte top coat polish I have as an add on.

November Julep Maven Suede Polish Box.

My November Julep Maven box has come!
Matte suede polish!
I thought it wasn't going to come till this weekend but when I opened my door this morning there was a little black box with my name on it.
The goodies!
This box was a lot cuter then my intro box, came with extra goodies too.
Brit, Minka, 3 Polish Remover Pads and Body Frosting.
My intro box didn't have the pads, it was nice to just whip off my old polish right when I opened the box and start to play with the new colors. Sadly, my matte top coat add on to was just shipped so it didn't come in the box.
The body frosting is a very lovely treat and I think when this runs out I will be buying more & it may be a Christmas gift for a couple people. It smells like sherbet!
The back of the it made me smile too:)
To do your nails like mine, apply a base color (I used Brit) after your base color dies make a X with tape on your nails leaving a triangle at the tip. Paint the triangle with your feature color (I used Minka) and apply your crystals then top coat.
To see a step by step tutorial and to see how I add the crystals check out my older post here.
The top picture is of the matte suede polish with no top coat and this picture is with a good ol' glossy top coat. I really like the Brit with the matte look and can't wait to get the top coat so it last longer but I do like the Minka better glossy.
So this was box 2 for me, so far pretty happy. I love the holidays so I am happy to see next month's box!
