April Fool's day Crafts and Pranks.

April Fool's Day is almost here, are you ready?

I have always loved Fool's Day & when I was a kid I though it was the coolest thing that I can mess with people and and I couldn't get in trouble, it was even encouraged in my house!

Common pranks in my house growing up was doing weird things with food, gluing things to each other or down, buckets or bags of water over doors (those never ended well), popping out to scare people, clear finger nail polish on soap so it doesn't lather, a few white lies, setting the clocks back or forward... the list goes on and on.

My favorite prank that I bring back every few years is the glitter towel! It's great on guys, I sent my brothers to school a few times cover in glitter and half the time they didn't notice till they are out the door in the sun.I have been dying to get my boyfriend with this one but I know he could kill me if I sent him to work covered in glitter... I think I'll do his hand towel this year.

Here are a few cute Fool's Day crafts to give a try, I will be making the  fish sticks for a few people this year.

Doughnut Seeds!

I did these when I was a kid.

"Sponge" Cake

My mom got me and my little sister with this one one year.

What you will need:
Markers, New kitchen sponges, Canned frosting, & Sprinkles
Instructions
  1. Use a marker to draw large circles on new kitchen sponges, then cut out the circles.
  2. Stack and frost them (we used inexpensive canned frosting). Cover the sides with sprinkles, if you like.
  3. Tell your victims that you "made a sponge cake," and invite them to cut off a piece. To help ease the prank's sting, serve real cake afterward.

Faux Fish Sticks Cookies

I am going to make enough of these and give them to a few people, I love the peas!
What you will need:
Cornflakes, Sugar wafer cookies, Peanut butter, Green taffy candy ( used green apple AirHeads in picture), & Seedless strawberry jam.
Instructions
  1. For the fish sticks, place a couple of handfuls of cornflakes in a ziplock bag and crush them with a rolling pin. Cover 2 sugar wafer cookies with peanut butter, then toss them in the cornflake crumbs to coat.
  2. For the peas, tear off and roll small pieces of the taffy candy into balls. If the taffy is too stiff to work with, microwave it for about 6 seconds.
  3. For the ketchup, use a fork to stir a few teaspoons of the jam until it's smooth.

Happy April Fool's Day!

Feel free to share what pranks you will be doing this year or ones you've done in the past!

Easter Eggs!

I always have my kid sister come over for Easter and we never really do much with our eggs other then dye a few with those cheap little dye kits from Target. This year I am going to go all out with the eggs! I have found a few cute tutorials online and I can't wait to try them.

Onion Skin Easter Eggs

This one I am the most excited for. It reminds me of the crayon and hot glue gun trick but these look so much better. I have a few flowers set aside for this and may try some cut outs too.
Love these!

Egg Shell Planter

I just planted a few forget-me-nots for these, they should start to grow enough in time for my sister to make these on Easter. They will be very cute to put out on my table for dinner and she can take them home and plant them in the back yard.

Confetti Egg

These are very cute and very easy to do! I have a dozen already made. I think these will be my sister favorite, she loves water balloon fights so these will be great for her on Easter. I also wont have to deal with her being wet but my boyfriend will have to deal with glitter in our house after we come back in... That is what he gets for living with a girl!

I am still looking for more but these are a must for this Easter in my house this year. I am very excited to do these and more, it will be a get change from those boring dye kits.

Thank for stopping by and feel free to share what your doing this year and if you try these out!

Hope everyone has a Happy Easter next month!

Paddy's Day Inspired Nail Tutorial

St Paddy's Nails!

This is how I had my nails a few days ago. They came out alright but they were messy & then I kept picking at my nails and they became chipped... so I had to do them over! I also got a new file so I wanted to fix my nails.

Here's what you'll need: A top coat (I use Sally Hansen Dries Instantly, dries in about 30 second), feature colors for your dots and faded colors, a base color, a sponge. Go wild with picking out colors, I went with green and gold for St. Patrick's Day.
First, prep for your manicure, to make it last longer. Remove your old polish, if any, and soak your hands in warm water for a few minutes. Trim your nails and push back your cuticles but don't cut them. Do not use lotions or oils on your hands before you start, it may make the dry time longer.
Try using the manicure file with the different sides after you've had your hands soaking in warm water. It helps smooth away the ridges in your nails for a longer lasting and better looking manicure.

Go across the base of your nail for a cleaner look.
For a more professional look try making your first swipe at the base of your nail without getting polish on your cuticles. I started doing this and the nails really come out so much nicer.
No polish on the sides or cuticles :)
Apply one or two coats of you base color.
Starting from the back always helps me!
Next, grab your sponge. I used a makeup sponge.
I got a big cheap bag at the super market. You can cut it smaller if you want, it may be cleaner if the
piece is smaller.
Apply some of your polish to a corner of the sponge.
I went light to dark for my fade but you can do a different combo.
Tap the sponge on the nail.
Don't go all the way to the cuticle, you want some of the base color to show.
Apply once or twice until you are happy with the color.
I applied 2 coats of the first green.
Apply the second color to the sponge.
Apply the second color closer to the tips.
Don't cover some of the first color.
Apply the second color until you are happy with the color.
I added a 3rd color but it didn't show :(
I'm using the brush from my nail art polish.
You can use a toothpick if needed.
Use the base color for your dots.
I put some on a piece of paper so I can dip the brush.
Tap your brush or toothpick in the polish.
Start adding your dots.
You can do other designs or use another color other then your base color.
I did half diagonally on my ring finger.
Apply one or two coats of your top coat.
I applied 2 coats.
All done!
Pretty!

 Thanks for looking
Happy Paddy's Day!

Colorful Dots Nail Tutorial

This is usually what my nails look like. It is quick, easy & cute, I like that you can use any colors for this look and it always works.
I love how the black base with blues and purples came out!
Here's what you'll need: A top coat (I use Sally Hansen Dries Instantly, dries in about 30 second), feature colors for your dots, a base color, glitter polish. Go wild with picking out colors, it really does work with any combo.

First, prep for your manicure, to make it last longer. Remove your old polish, if any, and soak your hands in warm water for a few minutes. Trim your nails and push back your cuticles but don't cut them. Do not use lotions or oils on your hands before you start, it may make the dry time longer.

To start apply 1-2 coats of the base color
Start making a few dots.
Add a few more in different spots.
Its hard to see this one in the picture... :(
I like to add yellow on the white to make it look like an egg :)

Start adding some of the new colored dots on the other dots.
And continue to add new ones if you have room.
Add the last few dots and make sure your happy with them.
Apply one coat of fine glitter.
I like to add two different colored glitter but its fine if you use two coats of the same.
Apply the other color fine glitter or a second coat.
The glitter helps cover anything you are unhappy with but it is not needed if you don't want it. You also don't have to use fine glitter but for me I like it the best this way. Play with it till you are happy with it.
Add 1 or 2 coats of the top coat and your done!

Thanks for stopping by.

Let me know if you gave it a try and how it turned out!
